Cynarina corals, also known as "meat corals," are unique, fleshy, and photosynthetic stony corals. They are relatively hardy and adaptable, making them a good choice for both experienced and intermediate reef keepers
- Lighting: Cynarina corals are photosynthetic and can thrive in moderate lighting (100-150 PAR).
- They can adapt to various lighting conditions, but excessive lighting can damage them.
- Lower intensity lighting is generally preferred, especially when starting with a new Cynarina.
- Water Flow: Cynarina corals prefer low-to-moderate water flow.
- Strong flow can damage their soft tissues, prevent polyps from fully inflating, or even cause them to move around the tank.
- Feeding: Cynarina corals are photosynthetic and can obtain nutrients from sunlight, but they also benefit from supplemental feeding.
- They are non-picky eaters and will readily consume meaty foods like mysis, brine shrimp, or small pieces of seafood.
- Target feeding, where food is delivered directly to the coral, is recommended, especially when they are young or recovering from injury.
